CPN Tools on Mac OS X
Has hell frozen over and CPN Tools been ported to Mac OS X? Nope, it’s just CPN Tools running under the just-released Parallels 5, which has a Windows theme which together with Crystal Mode (a further development of Coherence Mode) makes the illusion almost perfect – even when using the program!

I’ve installed CPN Tools on Parallels 5 but the right button won’t work. I have tried Ctrl+shift+mouse click and it does nothing. Any suggestions?

Are you sure you have installed Parallels Tools? It should be installed automatically, but if it isn’t, go to Virtual Machine in the menu and select Install Parallels Tools. I have no problems right-clicking using Ctrl-shift (remember, not Command-shift) and left-click nor using a normal right click using a Logitech multi-button mouse.

Thanks Michael! That helped a lot. But now i have another problem… CPN doesn’t work at all. It freezes from the moment I choose “new net”. I can’t do anything with it. I always end up forcing quit.
Any ideas?

From time to time CPN Tools has problems with Parallels’ accelerated graphics adapter (it changes from version to version of Parallels). I run with these settings:
Disabling 3D acceleration only has a noticeable impact for games or if you use Aero in Vista/7. I always use Parallels’ coherence, which does not use Aero, so performance on my Mac via Parallels is even better than on my Windows work laptop.
I use CPN Tools 2.9.13, which is the newest pre-release version. It should also be possible to use CPN Tools 2.3.5 (which use an older version of the simulator, also used in 2.2.0, and is therefore more tested than the newer and faster simulator used in 2.9.13). You may have problems getting 2.2.0 to run, as we made a change around 2.3.3 or 2.3.4 which improves support for running under a virtual machine.
You can get versions up to 2.9.11 from the old web-page (but getting versions where the 2nd digit is odd reguires access to internal versions, which you can get by filling in the form at http://www.daimi.au.dk/~cpntools/bin/license/internal.php if you haven’t already). Versions 2.9.12 onwards are only accessible for the (not yet completely launched) new web-page at http://cpntools.org/. Some versions may not show up on that page, so you may only be able to get version 2.9.12, but the changes are really minor.
