Burned Out

It’s been a while since my last update.  That is mostly due to the fact that I’ve been crazy busy and all my stuff has been discarded or sent to cleaning.  It turns out that after my dryer burned, the soot damage was much worse that I anticipated.  All in all, this meant everything was written off and discarded, except for a couple computers and some DVDs.

You have already seen pictures of my burned out bath room and my apartment immediately after the fire.  Below, you can see pictures after my apartment was emptied and cleaning started.  All in all, it’s fairly depressing.

My compulsory picture-taking actually turned out to be a good thing.  As I’ve moved out the apartment, I have to pay to get it repaired, and it turns out that the tabletop in the kitchen had somehow been damaged during the emptying/cleaning/repairs, and the superintendent was naturally not able to judge whether that had happened as a result of the fire or before.  Luckily my pictures show quite clearly that it had taken no damage before the emptying (it’s at the edge near the sink), so that saved me from having to pay for a new tabletop, so that’s something, I guess.

Kitchen cabinet emptied – this shows how the soot got everywhere. This cabinet was closed and there was two rooms (with closed doors) between the kitchen and the bathroom and fire.
