Albert Heijn offers a €2.50 discount in exchange for 500 Air Miles Nederland. If you’re signed up to their “all your information for miserable discounts” scheme, that is. And the discount is only valid with a purchase of €20 or more.

You get one Air mile for each €2 you spend at AH, which means you get a generous 0.25% discount. That’s 5 cents on a regular €20 trip to the super market, or, put otherwise, you have to spend €8000 to get that €20 trip for free. I spend less than that on rent in a year. Heck, I even spend less than that on beer!

I know you shouldn’t expect people to excel at math (nor to Microsoft Excel), but do they expect us to be literally morons?

In fact… Super discount!!! For every €10 you give me, I’ll put one (1) eurocent towards a €20 discount I’ll pay out to you. The discount is claimable when you accumulate €20 at a slight payment of €50 to me. Get a free certificate (worth €1) for only €15 with your 50th purchase.
