I really love how Microsoft decided to use all-capitals in the new versions of their programs. It’s as if Vincent Connare (the Comic Sans guy) and the WordArt guy had a brainstorm that went like:

“What is the least legible typeface we can use? No Zapf Dingbats or Comic Sans allowed. All-caps is pretty annoying to read, but how can we make it worse? How about we crank up the sub-pixel rendering and use shitty kerning? We also need to ensure no ligatures or we won’t get an awkward bright space in the File menu. I mean FILE menu.”

Only the day after did they notice, they forgot to add exclamation points to really drive home the point it is no longer the slightly boring “File” menu, but the DAMP-ridden, inbred and ugly cousin, the “FILE!!!!!111!!!one!!!!” menu. They still mourn the fact that a sans serif typeface is easier to read on a screen, as they went with the old rule that in printed media, grotesque typefaces are less readable than those with proper serifs.

Yes, I just wrote 177 words on the menus in Office and Visual Studio.
