Thanks for Being There in 2014

IMG_0044I’m not posting an algorithmically generated half-assed Facebook click-factory show summing up my year. I’m not even posting the amusing pre-prepared (as opposed to post-prepared) joke contrasting my tongue-in-cheek new year’s resolution with my actual year.

While a lot of things have happened and changed in my 2014 – some of which is recognized by the above – what I’ll remember most from this year is not. Most of you know some of it, some of you know most of it.

What will stick with me is less what I did or didn’t do, and more the amazing people in my life; some I’m leaving behind and a great many I’m traveling home to today. The best of you stood by me during the worst times, and even the worst on a profoundly relative scale, in an apparent violation of linguistic integrity, made the best times even better.

Before this sounds too much like a 5-in-the-morning “you are my bestest friend” speech, I’ll end by saying I’m looking forward to what 2015 brings – I hope it’s chocolate – and yay you!
