Is it a reasonable assumption that the Earth is flat and square? It would make transformations between latitude/longitude and distances much easier.

Funny how we try to adhere to social norms despite the situation. For example, I had just finished a video call when I got a package delivery. Even though we have been in lockdown for months and the postman knows this, I still put on pants before getting the packet.
