Is it bad I spent a not insignificant amount of time trying to figure out how the LED armbands that have become popular for concerts work? They can basically display lights synchronized.

I can think of three ways it could work off the top of my head: mesh network, broadcast using RF, or broadcast using signals embedded in the sound. Anybody knows which it is? Occam’s razor suggests broadcast using RF.
