My house has 9 internal and 2 external doors plus one to the meterkast. That’s roughly 1081 doors per hectare or over 55 trillion doors on Earth assuming the same door-density all over. Assuming a standard door size of 2 meters by 80 cm, these doors could comfortably pave an 8-lanes in both directions intergalactic bypass going from Earth to Saturn, including German raststätte at convenient intervals.

That is obviously too many doors! Our prime objective as a species should be to invent a meaningful (i.e., I can control it from my iPhone) alternative to doors. I’m thinking something hologrammy. Perhaps phasery? Positronicy? I want something techy but not in an annoyingly Sirius Cybernetics Corporationy way. I’m just throwing technobabble out there and expect some nerd to make it for me. Make it have the Doom 1 door sound.
