I don’t think it should necessarily be allowed to hit cyclists for biking like an idiot. That would imply it were an acceptable option to refrain from physically correct them when doing wrong.

Being a liberalist at heart, I am also not of the opinion that punishment should necessarily be done by the state, but rather that each individual is obligated to – in a controlled and constructive way – use a fist to the face to instruct people of the fact that cutting others off and running red lights like an idiot is not acceptable.
