I propose we split the use of the word “abuse” into “misabuse” and “abuse.” The contemporary misabuse of the word implicitly implies that abuse is bad. Examples: abuse of power to make everybody see things my way (good), misabuse of power to kill 60 million of your political opponents (bad), abuse of bacon (good!), misabuse of celery (anything with celery in it is bad), abuse of power to invade a small, rich country nobody (save for the 6-7 digit inhabitants) every heard of before the invasion (good). Let’s together end the misabuse of innocent words and proceed to a more enlightened discussion with proper abuse of words. #ThingsThatGoThroughMyMindMondayMorning
